We designed our summer associate program to reflect the practice of law. We assign students meaningful work and make them part of the team. Whenever possible, students are invited to see their work in action at hearings, depositions, closings, and client meetings.
We usually hire three or four first- and second-year law students each summer. We divide the summer into multiple rotations, so each student has an opportunity to work with several lawyers and clients on projects across multiple practice groups.
While all of the attorneys at Gallagher mentor the summer associates on specific projects, each of our summer associates also works with an assigned mentor. The mentor is available to answer questions, provide assistance, and offer guidance during and even after the summer.
Throughout the summer, we look forward to getting to know our summer associates and their families through happy hours, concerts, Orioles games, boating trips, and gatherings at attorneys’ homes, local restaurants, and with our clients.
Our summer associates are among the top students in their class and have strong undergraduate credentials. We value work, volunteer, and community service experience. Equally important, we seek students with strong character who share our values. Many of our attorneys came to Gallagher as summer associates and decided to spend their careers with us.
