BALTIMORE April 3, 2009 -- David E. Raderman, a partner at the Maryland-based law firm Gallagher Evelius & Jones, has been appointed Chairman of the Howard County Housing Commission by Howard County Executive Ken Ulman.
Established in 1990, the Housing Commission serves as Howard County's public housing authority. The Commission develops and manages housing resources for the County's low and moderate income residents. It owns and manages residential properties, develops affordable rental housing, and operates Howard County's Housing Choice Section 8 Voucher Program. Last year the Commission completed a $36 million acquisition of Columbia Landing, a 300-unit apartment community in Columbia, increasing its portfolio from 400 to 700 units.
Mr. Raderman, 53, has a national reputation in tax and credits work. He is an industry expert and was involved in some of the first low income housing tax credit projects done nationally. He represents investors and developers of projects using federal and state affordable housing, New Markets, renewable energy, and historic tax credits.
Mr. Raderman has been active on the Howard County Housing Commission since 2006. He also sits on the board of the Maryland Affordable Housing Coalition, and is a member of the bar associations of Maryland, Washington, D.C., and Florida.
Mr. Raderman is a graduate of Temple University (Ll.M., 1984), the University of Pennsylvania School of Law (J.D., 1980), and the University of Maryland (B.S., summa cum laude, 1977).
